JUDO - THE TRUTH...

JUDO is a modern martial art, combat and Olympic sport created in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano.
The objective is to either throw or take-down an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke.

A judo practitioner is called a judoka.
The philosophy and subsequent pedagogy developed for judo became the model for other modern Japanese martial arts that developed from koryū. The worldwide spread of judo has led to the development of a number of offshoots such as Sambo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

KARATE-GI

The WKF homologated karate-gi has high quality characteristics that make it worthy of the WKF APPROVED recognition.
There are two modalities:
KUMITE: Acrylic fabric, light and breathable.
KATA – Thick cotton fabric.

The two models must carry the manufacturer's brand both at the front of the jacket and behind, under the back of the neck. The WKF APPROVED wording will be indicated on a specific label situated on the inferior seam of the jacket, just above the manufacturer's label.
Its use in competion is NOT compulsory.

Every Karate-ka Should Know About “Kiai!”

Image result for kiaiKiai is just the name of the scream. Many people try to articulate the word “kiai” with their lips....
So how should a great kiai sound, then?
Kiai is always a personal shout. The only one who looks silly in a dojo is the person who doesn’t scream.
Some scream “eei!”, some scream “yaa!”, some scream “ooh!”,  some scream “heip!”, some scream “kihap!”, some scream “ki up!”But the sound coming out of your mouth is actually secondary.
Focus on the breathing....

Benefits of martial arts training

Knowing how to defend oneself and loved ones in a potentially dangerous situation is an asset in today’s world just as it was hundreds of years ago.

Training in martial arts such as karate, tae kwon do, kung fu and other martial art styles will improve one’s cardiovascular fitness as well as tone the muscular system.

All martial art styles will result in an improvement of one’s coordination as well.

And best of all, an increase in self confidence for kids (as well as adults) will have a cross over effect in other areas of life such as in other sports and general self esteem.
